Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) chief spokesperson Saurav Das has demanded the immediate resignation of the entire Union government, launching a sharp attack on the Home Minister over the branding of young Indians as “dimagi naxals” or intellectual Naxals.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday amid a crowded bank of microphones, Das described the remarks as deeply troubling and an insult to an entire generation. “These are very unfortunate comments. It’s nonsense; the youth of the country will not accept it,” he said.
Das accused the government of attempting to stigmatise young people who question authority by attaching politically charged labels to dissent. If authorities genuinely believe particular individuals or groups have committed offences, he argued, they should proceed through evidence and due process rather than public name-calling.
The CJP spokesperson also pointed to unresolved FIRs against protesters and the removal of a minister following public pressure, arguing that the government had failed to confront the substantive grievances driving youth anger.
For Das, calling educated and politically vocal young Indians “intellectual Naxals” represents more than inflammatory rhetoric. He portrayed it as evidence of an administration increasingly unwilling to engage with criticism and increasingly reliant on labels to discredit dissent.
His remarks follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day reference to “dimagi naxals,” turning the controversy into a broader confrontation over the political space available to young Indians who challenge the government.
By specifically targeting the Home Minister while demanding the resignation of the entire Union cabinet, Das has dramatically raised the stakes. His message was unequivocal: India’s youth will not accept being smeared, intimidated or silenced for demanding accountability.
