Varanasi, a five-year-old boy’s innocence was allegedly violated in the most grotesque way imaginable. On 24 July 2026, the child simply asked to use the toilet. Teacher Preeti Kushwaha refused. When the little boy, unable to hold it any longer, wet his pants, the teacher dragged him aside, heated a knife until it glowed, and pressed it against his private parts.
The father, a lawyer, discovered the injury only when his son came home in pain. School authorities allegedly showed little urgency. Only after a police complaint was an FIR registered against Kushwaha, the principal, and the management. Yet early medical reports reportedly failed to clearly document the burn, raising further questions about the thoroughness of the response.
An FIR has been registered at Lalpur-Pandeypur police station against the teacher Preeti Kushwaha, principal Hemlata Singh, and the school management under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (including voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons/means and criminal intimidation). Investigation is ongoing. Some early reports noted that the initial medical examination at DDU District Hospital did not clearly record a burn injury; further probes continue. No arrests had been reported in the immediate coverage.
When news of this reached Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, he reacted, “This is an extremely serious matter whose painful and terrifying impact can affect that child for a lifetime…Immediate appropriate action should be taken!”
No civilised society can tolerate this. Teachers hold a sacred responsibility. When one among them allegedly turns predator and tormentor, the system must act with absolute severity. Immediate suspension, thorough investigation, and, if the allegations are proven, the strongest possible legal punishment are the bare minimum. Such a person has no place near children, or, many would argue, in free society at all.
This case must not fade into another forgotten outrage. Every parent sending a child to school deserves the assurance that classrooms remain places of safety, not hidden chambers of horror. The child deserves justice. Society demands it.
