Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan: In a harrowing incident that has shattered the nation’s sense of safety, a 13-year-old girl has tragically passed away after suffering from a horrific assault that lasted agonizing days. The Class 8 student was reportedly kidnapped, sold for mere rupees, and subjected to relentless abuse by multiple attackers in various hotels before her rescue. After a valiant five-day battle in the ICU, she succumbed to her injuries.
This horrifying crime, revealed in late June 2026, has ignited a wave of outrage across India. Police reports indicate the nightmare commenced when the young girl went missing. An e-rickshaw driver allegedly led her astray, facilitated her sale to a hotel owner, and she was then mercilessly shifted between locations, enduring systematic sexual violence and torture at the hands of a group of 12 to nearly 30 men. Law enforcement has apprehended 10 to 14 individuals, including hotel proprietors, and has begun dismantling the implicated establishments while investigating a potential larger trafficking ring.
This incident transcends the sorrow of a grieving family; it highlights our collective failure to safeguard the most innocent among us. A child who deserved safety and protection was instead subjected to unspeakable horrors and ultimately robbed of her life.
Public outrage is escalating, with protests erupting and citizens, leaders, and child rights advocates demanding accountability. The pressing question remains: How many more daughters must we mourn before the system takes decisive action?
The perpetrators must face severe consequences, as stipulated under the POCSO Act and corresponding laws for rape, trafficking, and murder. Justice cannot be delayed or diluted; leniency is not an option. Delayed justice in such cases not only fails the victim but emboldens potential offenders to believe they can act without repercussions.
As the nation mourns, heartfelt tributes are extended to the bereaved family. May her spirit find eternal peace, and may her loved ones gather the strength to cope with this profound loss.
This cycle of horror must cease. India demands expeditious justice, unwavering child protection, and a zero-tolerance stance on violence against our daughters. #JusticeForHer #ProtectOurChildren #StopViolenceAgainstChildren #FastTrackJustice
The moment for outrage is now. The time for resolute action is long overdue.
